Description of Head Curing And Things to be Careful

The kiln shall be connected to tubes, holes opened on iron pipes, input is made through the lids and heating is started. In the meantime, having the chimney lids closed would be of advantage (by enabling easier rise of heated air).

We do not recommend having burning articles like coal, wood and etc. Burned inside because refractor surface would be covered with carbon deposits. If application by iron pipes connected to tubes would be too hard, you may light the burners with a flame of extremely short length.

- Material surface temperature should be heated glazing by flame up to 150 °C by 25 °C increment Per hour.

A-INTIAL ANTICIPATION PERIOD (150°C-250°C) DISCARD OF WATER (DRYING)

You should anticipate for at least 24 hours between temperatures of 150°C and 250°C making sure not to rise before water vapor is finished. This may take up to 48 hours, however. When water vapor is emit ted, you should slightly open the lids to prevent compression inside.

- Material surface temperature should be heated glazing by flame up to 150 °C by 25 °C increment Per hour.

B-SECOND ANTICIPATION PERIOD (350°C-550°C) DISCARD OF CRYSTAL WATER

You sholud anticipate for at least 24 hours between temperatures of 350°C and 550°C until water vapor extrusion is finished. This may take up to 48 hours. Chimney hoods should be way opened to ease extrusion of steam, anticipating untill all steam is output. Between such temperature period, you should check the iron sheet from outside by hand and have holes drilled on iron sheet to enable easier of steam at regions where temperature appears too high which shall be later re-sealed by welding.

-You should come up to 750°C by 25 to 35°C increments Per hour.

C-THIRD ANTICIPATION PERIOD (750°C-950°C) START SINTERING

If there still is steam output at this temperature you must wait at temperature when steam output is started. You may anticipate for an additional 24 hours after steam output is completed.

-You should come up to 750°C by 35 to 50°C increments Per hour.

D- THIRD ANTICIPATION PERIOD (1250°C-1450°C) END SINTERING PASS OVER TO CERAMIC PHASE

You must for at least 8 hrs. You may reduce to operation and take the kiln at work by the end of the anticipation period. The kiln may be cooled by means of the cooling program described in the annex.

THINGS TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT HEAT CURING

1- Never employ “uncontrolled” heating;
2- Refractor surface must not be exposed to open flame until passing to sintering from initial flaming;
3- Lids should be “open” at steam output;
4- Temperature should not be increased prior to end of steam output;
5- Refractor shall start sweating initially then evaporate;
6- Personnel who is/are well in knowledge of heating instruments should attend curing in oder to intervene at emergency situations;
7- During heat curing, control of heat rise temperature blance and anticipation periods must be recorded in the form of graphics;
8- Any disfunctioning to occur at devices during heat curing due to power failure or breakdown must be followed by shutting all lids to delay cooling of the kiln.
